- United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson led the Global Vaccine Summit 2020.
- Over 50 countries along with their business leaders, civil societies, government ministers, UN agencies etc. participated in the summit.
- India was represented by PM Narendra Modi.
- In the summit, India pledged to contribute 15 million US dollars to Gavi. Gavi is an International Vaccine Alliance which co-ordinates vaccinations across the world.
- PM Modi also contributed his words that India stands in solidarity with the world in this challenging health issue arisen due to COVID-19. He also assured that India not only has capacity to contribute to the global health efforts but also has the will power to do so in a spirit of sharing and caring.
