Current Context: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has setup a COVID-19 testing facility at DIHAR (Defence Institute of High Altitude Research) , Leh.
- The testing facility was inaugurated by Lt Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur.
- The COVID-19 testing facility developed in Leh will help to enhance the rate of the testing process in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
- In order to set up COVID-19 testing facility, DRDO ensured that the facility follows all the rules and guidelines framed by Indian Council of Medical research (ICMR).
- The DIHAR, Leh based COVID-19 Testing facility is capable of taking and testing 50 samples per day.
