Current Context: India’s first e-Lok Adalat is launched in Chhattisgarh.
- The decision and development of e-Lok Adalat in Chhattisgarh has taken place because of the Chhattisgarh State Legal Service Authority and the High Court.
- The e-Lok Adalat is launched to ensure the administration of justice, conduction of hearings of the court, various internal court activities and to solve the financial crisis of the parties and lawyers even in the lockdown situation which has arisen due to outbreak of COVID-19.
- The E-Lok Adalat was inaugurated through video conferencing by high court Chief Justice P R Ramchandra Menon.
- The E-Lok Adalat is launched with an aim to carry out court cases via the virtual platform in the pandemic situation of COVID-19 and to maintain social distancing.
- The virtual hearing will be conducted through video conferencing.
- The parties and lawyers can present their cases through Whatsapp video call in case of any difficulties in video conferencing.
- Thus because of e-Lok Adalat, social distancing will be followed in law-court areas as well, without any hindrance in law activities.
