Current Context: A Virtual meeting between India and the United States was helping for Indo-US Strategic Energy Partnership.
Indo-US Strategic Energy Partnership

  • The virtual meeting was co-chaired by Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan and by US Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette.
  • Both the countries announced to perform research and uplift the new areas on transformational power generation based on supercritical CO2 (sCO2) power cycles and advanced coal technologies, including carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS).
  • They also reviewed progress, accomplishment and highlighted new areas in power or energy sector on which the work is to be done.
  • Also, both the countries announced to work together in smart grid and energy storage projects. The projects will be managed and developed by 30 major entities from India and the United States.
  • The entities in the virtual meet also discussed about the policy and its directions to be followed for developing and managing smart grid projects and in order to properly utilize distributed energy resources.
