Current Context: Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar has lauded and appreciated a mobile application to track, report and conserve the Indian turtles.
KURMA Mobile App—To Track and Conserve Indian Turtles

  • The name of the app is ‘KURMA’.
  • The was launched on the occasion of World Turtle Day i.e. on 23rd May 2020. 
  • It is developed by Indian Turtle Conservation Action Network (ITCAN) and Turtle Survival Alliance – India and Wildlife Conservation Society, India.
  • With the help of this app, one can submit the track or sight location of tortoise or turtle in ones surrounding area.
  • And with the help of that location database, the rescue team will be able to provide support, thus by adopting and taking care of turtle or tortoise.
