Current Context: Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal has launched PM Scheme for Formalization of Micro food processing Enterprises (PM FME).
- The PM FME scheme is named as ‘Sapno Ki Udaan’. The scheme will be implemented over a period of five years from 2020-21 to 2024-25.
- The scheme has an outlay of Rs 10,000 crore and will help to boost unorganized food processing sector and will provide employment opportunities to about 9 lakh workers.
- The process and management of the implementation of the scheme will take place in the Management Information System (MIS).
- The PM FME scheme is launched with an aim of ‘Local Brand to Global’ and has an objective of to provide financial, technical and business support for up-gradation of existing micro food processing enterprises.
