Current Context: Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal has launched PM Scheme for Formalization of Micro food processing Enterprises (PM FME).
PM Scheme for Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises
  • The PM FME scheme is named as ‘Sapno Ki Udaan’. The scheme will be implemented over a period of five years from 2020-21 to 2024-25.
  • The scheme has an outlay of Rs 10,000 crore and will help to boost unorganized food processing sector and will provide employment opportunities to about 9 lakh workers.
  • The process and management of the implementation of the scheme will take place in the Management Information System (MIS).
  • The PM FME scheme is launched with an aim of ‘Local Brand to Global’ and has an objective of to provide financial, technical and business support for up-gradation of existing micro food processing enterprises.
