Current Context: The Zoram Mega Food Park was inaugurated at Mizoram.
- It was inaugurated by Union Food Processing Minister, Harisimrat Kaur Badal.
- The food park is launched to provide a platform to the food processing industry so that it will give a boost to the food sector, especially in the northeastern States.
- It will prove highly beneficial to farmers, growers, processors and also to the consumers.
- The food park will also provide employment opportunities in the food sector to about 5000 people.
- The Zoram Mega Food Park will provide benefit to about 25,000 farmers.
- An investment of Rs 250 crore in 30 food processing units will be made and which is expected to provide a turnover of Rs 500 crore annually through this food park.
- The Zoram Mega Food Park is equipped with 3000 metric tonnes capacity dry warehouse and 1000 metric tonnes of cold storage capacity.
