Air Unique Quality Monitoring (AUM) Photonic System

Published on August 15, 2020
Current Context: An indigenous photonic system to remotely monitor air quality parameters.
Air Unique Quality Monitoring (AUM) Photonic System

  • The system is titled as ‘Air Unique Quality Monitoring (AUM) Photonic System’.
  • The system is developed by Scientific and Industrial Research Center (GVP-SIRC) and GVP College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam.
  • The AUM Photonic System is developed under the Clean Air Research Initiative of Department of Science and Technology.
  • The system is based on principals of statistical mechanics, laser backscattering, optoelectronics, AI, machine learning and IoT.
  • The system identifies, make classification and quantifies various pollutants present in the air atmosphere. It does these three steps simultaneously of the order of less than one part per billion and following the standards of meteorology with high precision and accuracy.
  • The testing and evaluation of AUM Photonic System were performed in comparison with gold standards of EffecTech, United Kingdom.
  • Karnataka State Pollution Control Board will be operating this system by following the standards of the Central Pollution Control Board of India.
  • The system has features like portableness, compact in size, low powered nature, economical as compared to currently available other similar types of systems.
