Current Context: The Union Minister of Agriculture and Family Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar launched the National Agriculture Research and Education System- Cloud Infrastructure and Services, named as ‘Krishi Megh’.
- This agriculture research and its educational system Krishi Megh is designed with the features of digital agriculture of New India.
- Along with Krishi Megh, KVC ALUNET is also launched. KVC ALUNET signifies and stands for Krishi Vishwavidyalaya Chhatr Alumni Network.
- An Online Accreditation System for Higher Agricultural Educational Institution (HEI) was also launched.
- Krishi Megh will meet the mandatory needs of Digital Agriculture NARES (National Agriculture Research and Education System).
- With the help of Krishi Megh, the current ICAR-DC will get boost and strength to perform its task more efficiently because of the cloud computing technology platform.
- The coordination among NARES, ICAR-DC and Krishi Megh will be led to provide a robust and advanced platform which will meet IT needs by deploying applications like e-office, ERP solutions, websites, portals, android mobile applications etc.
- ICAR-Krishi Megh at ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management Hyderabad is synchronized with ICAR-Data Center at ICAR-IASRI, New Delhi. It has been built to mitigate the risk, availability, and accessibility of e-governance, research, enhance the quality, extension and education in the field of agriculture in India.
- The centre is incorporated with AI, various learning software, tool kits, image processing to detect diseases in livestock, pest identification with the help of image analysis etc.
