Current Context: Government of Assam has launched ‘Orunodol Scheme’ for the financial empowerment of women in the state and to have economic development of their families.
- The scheme will be available to the beneficiaries from 17th August 2020.
- Under this scheme, financial support of Rs 830 per months will be credited to the bank account of a female person of the family.
- The scheme is expected to reach 17 lakh, poor families of the state.
- An allotment of Rs 280 crore has been made by Assam’s Government for this particular scheme.
- The scheme will help poor families with medical supports, nutrition support, academic support and to meet their additional expenditure during the festive season.
- Priority will be given to the families with widows, divorced, unmarried or separated women and disabled persons.
- To have the benefit of this scheme, it mandatory to be the Assam state’s resident and income less than Rs 2 lakh per annum.
