Current Context: The United Kingdom has launched 3 million pound Innovation Challenge Fund in India.
- This fund is launched to provide support to financially tackle and combat COVID-19.
- The funds will offer finance to Indian Scientist associated with academics and industries in India so that they can work to find a solution to tackle COVID-19 and Climate change issue.
- Under this Innovation Challenge Fund, tech innovators and experts are invited to utilize AI in Data Cluster in Karnataka and future mobility cluster in Maharashtra. The tech innovators and experts are asked to submit their research reports in order to find a solution to contain COVID-19 and to mitigate climate change issue and to have a greener planet.
- Under this Innovation Challenge Fund, atleast 12 grants upto pounds 250,000 will be awarded. The British High Commission upon reviewing the two page conceptual report submitted by participated experts, will offer funds to them to implement their concept.
- The Innovation Challenge Fund will also boost the UK-India Tech Partnership.
