Current Context: The Horticulture Department of Jammu and Kashmir launched a ‘Backyard Horticulture’ Programme.
‘Backyard Horticulture’ Programme: Jammu and Kashmir
  • The programme is launched under the Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) scheme at Pachyat Jaswan, Marh Block, Jammu district.
  • The ‘Backyard Horticulture’ Programme aims to increase the production of organic fruits for home consumption and to fulfil individual requirements in terms of economic and health. 
  • Under this programme, three fruit yielding plants costing to Rs 200 will be distributed to the farmers at 90% subsidy. 
  • The programme is expected to be beneficial to around 600 homes in Zone Marh, Jammu District.
  • The methods to plant these fruit yielding plants in the backyard place of homes are given to the farmers.
