Current Context: The Union Cabinet has approved and launched Mission Karmayogi.
Mission Karmayogi- A National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building

  • Mission Karmayogi is a National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building. 
  • The mission is launched to lay the foundation for capacity building for civil servants so that they remain firmly established in Indian culture while learning from best practices across the world.
  • This mission will help to build future-ready civil servants who will possess skillsets like right attitude, knowledge in order to achieve mission New India.
  • Rs 510.86 crore will be utilised for a period of 5 years for this mission. 
  • The mission will be beneficial to 46 lakh central employees.
  • Framework for Mission Karmayogi : (a) PM’s Human Resource Council (b) Capacity Building Commission (c) Special Purpose Vehicle for owning and operating the digital assets and technological platform for online training (d)Coordination unit headed by the cabinet secretary.
  • ‘iGOTKarmayogiPlatform will be set up to enhance the capacity of 2 crore officials all over India.
  • Principles of Programme: (a)Focus on on-site learning (b) Transition from rule-based to roles-based HR management (c)Calibrating civil service positions (d) Strengthening behavioural and functional domain competencies of civil servants (e) Developing partnership with best in class content creators.
