- For this purpose, the World Bank has approved a loan amount of 200 million dollars to Bangladesh.
- The loan amount will be utilised for Bangladesh Rural Water, Sanitation and Hygiene project.
- The Bangladesh Rural Water, Sanitation and Hygiene project will be beneficial to about 6 lakh people of Bangladesh as they will get access to clean water through piped water schemes.
- The sanitation facilities built under Bangladesh Rural Water, Sanitation and Hygiene project, will be beneficial to over 3.6 million rural people of the country.
- Thus because of access to water facilities, there will be prevention in spreading diseases like diarrhoea, will also reduce stunting problems in children under the age of 5 years.
- Bangladesh has also decided to use this loan amount to build 2500 handwashing stations in public places with water facilities in order to stop the spread of pandemics.
