Current Context: The Department of Post, Ministry of Communication, GOI is observing National Postal Week from 9th Oct to 15th Oct 2020.
9th to 15th October 2020—National Postal Week
  • Every Year National Postal Week is marked to create awareness about the role of postal services in the country. 
  • It is celebrated to commemorate the establishment of Universal Postal Union in 1874 in Switzerland. 
  • Under this celebration of National Postal Week, an online campaign will be organized which will promote services offered by Post Offices to the nation, also post forum meeting will be held in this week.
  • It also promotes saving schemes offered by Post office Saving Banks and products of IPPB. 
  • ‘Know your Postman Campaign will be conducted in this week.
  • The week is observed in 6 regions, namely, Goa, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Aurangabad. 
  • Significance of Each day of National Postal Week is: World Post Day (9th Oct), Savings Bank Day (10th Oct), Postal Life Insurance Day (12th Oct), Philately Day (13th Oct), Business Development Day (14th Oct) and Mail Day (15th Oct).
