- The Significance of STARS Projects is Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States.
- The total costing of the project is Rs 5718 crores and the project is the partnership between India and the World Bank. Hence for this project, World Bank is providing finance support of Rs 3700 crore.
- STARS Project will be implemented as a centrally sponsored scheme under Department of School Education & Literacy, Education Ministry.
- Aim of this project is to strengthen the education system and to grant the right to education for all.
- The project will involve setting up of National assessment Centre, PARAKH which will be an independent and autonomous institution.
- Also, STARS Projects will be comprised of Contingency Emergency Response Component (CERC). CERC will help in rapid re-categorization of financing and developing streamlined financing request procedures. It will also responds and address to the situations like school closure, infrastructure damage, inadequate facilities and usage of technology.
- Initially, the project will be launched in 6 states namely, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Odisha.
- Thus STARS project will help to strengthen the Union Education ministry’s national data systems and will boost learning assessment systems in India.
