AAI signed MoU with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN)

Current Context: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has signed MoU with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN), which is the subsidiary of NTPC.
AAI signed MoU with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN)
  • They have signed MoU to promote the use of electric vehicles and setting up solar power plants at airports of AAI.
  • Under this MoU, NVVN will be providing adequate land and rooftop space at free of cost at AAI airports in order to build solar plants.
  • The initial phase of MoU will be conducted in airports at Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan, where solar capacity required, is around 55 MW and 8 MW, respectively to become 100 per cent solar-powered airports.
  • Also, both AAI and NVVN will support GOI’s initiative to adopt electric vehicles by developing a public charging infrastructure.
