Four Agreements signed between India and Maldives

Current Context: India and Maldives have entered into four agreements during the visit of India’s Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla to the Maldives.
Four Agreements signed between India and Maldives
  • Agreement (1): The grant of $100 million by India for the Greater Male Connectivity Project (GMCP). This will allow linkage of Male (Capital of Maldives) with three islands. The total cost of this particular project is $500 million in which the rest $400 million will also be provided by India.
  • Agreement (2): The grant of 1.71 million Maldivian rufiyaas for the purpose of setting up of a plant and soil testing lab.
  • Agreement (3): The grant of 7.7 million Maldivian rufiyaas to establish a drug detox facility. 
  • Agreement (4): To increase bilateral cooperation in sports and youth affairs.
