Current Context: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has signed MoU with Indian Oil Corporation Research and Development Centre with an objective to develop Hydrogen
IISc signs MoU with Indian Oil
Generation Technology based on biomass gasification.
  • The hydrogen generated will be used to power fuel cell buses.
  • This technology will be developed to produce Fuel Cell Grade Hydrogen at an affordable price.
  • This will also help to address the challenge of biomass waste.
  • The Hydrogen Generation Technology based on biomass gasification will be demonstrated at the Indian Oil Research and Development Centre at Faridabad.
  • Both the organisations will work coordinately to optimize both biomass gasification and hydrogen purification processes.
