India test fired Brahmos Supersonic Missile

Current Context: The Indian Army successfully test-fired the land-attack version of Brahmos supersonic missile.

• The test-firing operation took place from Andaman and Nicobar Islands where it successfully hit its target, which was on another island.
• This the land-attack version of Brahmos supersonic missile’s range has been extended to 450 km. 
• Its speed is also increased to 2.8 Mach which is three times the speed of sound.
• The missile is developed by DRDO and NPOM of Russia.
