Sports Ministry to Provide Incentives Under Khelo India Initiative

Current Context: The Union Minister of Sports, Kiren Rijiju announced that Sports Minister, GOI will be providing incentives to private academics under Khelo India initiative. 

• Around 500 such private academics will be provided with incentive support
• For this purpose, the private academics are to be graded into different categories based on the quality of achievement of the players
• Initially, under this initiative, monetary assistance will be provided to 14 Olympic sports disciplines.
• The 14 priority disciplines which are selected for excellence in the Olympics 2028 are eligible to receive support.
• The incentive will help private academics to improve their resources, infrastructure and Sports Sciences.
