Current Context: The 7th edition of India-Suriname Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) was held virtually to review the bilateral ties between both nations.

  • The meeting was co-chaired by Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan and Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business and International Cooperation of Suriname, Albert R. Ramdin.
  • They held discussions about regional and multilateral cooperation. 
  • Both the nations agreed to build cooperation in the sectors like Business and Investment and to establish industries in health, agriculture, mining, energy, defence and cultural & education.
  • They also assured to undertake projects to improve South-South Cooperation.
