8th Global Terrorism Index 2020

Current Context: The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), India has released the ‘8th Global Terrorism Index (GTI) 2020: Measuring the Impact of Terrorism’.

• As per the index, India is ranked at 8th position with Most Affected Country in the world due to terrorism in 2019. The score of India is 7.353. 
• Afghanistan is the first most affected country in the world due to terrorism in 2019 with a score of 9.592.
• The second and third rank is marked by Iraq (Score: 8.682) and Nigeria (Score: 8.314) respectively. 
• The least affected countries due to terrorism are: Qatar (133rd Rank with score 0.014) and Uzbekistan (134th Rank with score 0.010). At 135th rank, there are 29 countries with a score of 0.
