2021: Indo-French Year of the Environment

Current Context: Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar along with French Minister for Ecological Transition, Barbara Pompili launched 2021

as the Indo-French Year of the Environment.

• This will help to enhance the partnership between India and France with respect to sustainable development and an increase in actions related to the protection of the global environment.
• The Indo-French Year of the Environment is the joint platform of India and France to work jointly in the areas of environment, biodiversity, climate change throughout the year of 2021. The partnership in this will be held for the tenure of 2021-22.
• The themes for Indo-French Year of the Environment: (a) Environmental protection (b) Climate change (c) Biodiversity conservation (d) Sustainable urban development (e) Development of renewable energies and energy efficiency.
