Current Context: The Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi, has given the approval for signing MoU between India and Japan for Specified Skilled Workforce.
Cabinet approved MoU between India & Japan for Specified Skilled Workers
  • The MoU will lead to an institutional mechanism which will develop a partnership between India and Japan on sending skilled Indian workforce who have working skills and Japanese language skill to Japan in order to work in fourteen specified sectors. 
  • These workers will be granted with a new status of residence of ‘Specified Skilled Worker’ by Japan’s Government.
  • The workers will be selected based on skills in sectors like Nursing care, Building cleaning, material processing industry, industrial machinery manufacturing, automobile maintenance, aviation, lodging, electric and electronic information related industry, construction, shipbuilding, fisheries, food and beverage manufacturing industry and foodservice industry.
