CAQM to Partner with Technical Institutions

Current Context: The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has decided to enter into a partnership with technical institutions of India to develop a Decision Support System (DSS).

• The DSS will help to improve air quality in Delhi and NCR.
• The CAQM will be joining with the experts from India Meteorological Department (IMD) of Delhi, The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI), IIT Delhi, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) of Pune, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI).
• The experts from these technical institutes will provide an expert technical solution to CAQM to develop DSS which will be based on AI technology.
• The DSS will utilize AI methods to simulate the scenario, and will accordingly take necessary measures to tackle air pollution and will improve air quality.
• The DSS will be incorporated with GIS, Decision Support Tools (DST) and many other features.

• About CAQM: It comes under the control of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and its HQ are in Delhi.
