Current Context: The DRDO successfully conducted the maiden test launch of new generation Akash-NG Missile.

  • The test was conducted from ITR off the Odisha coast.
  • The Akash-NG Missile is a surface to air missile having the test range of 30km.
  • It is used by Indian Air Force for the interception of high manoeuvring aerial threats.
  • During the testing activity, the performance of the command and control system was validated along with the configuration of onboard avionics and aerodynamic equipments of the missile.
