Current Context: The GOI, Government of Andhra Pradesh has entered into a loan agreement with New Development Bank (NDB) to upgrade highway networks in Andhra Pradesh. The loan

agreement is basically signed to fund two major projects of the state. 
  • The total loan agreement signed between the entities is of USD 646 million. Each project costs USD 323 million. 
  • The main moto of the projects is to improve transport efficiency, road safety, mobility and offer connectivity to socioeconomic centres. 
  • Project (1) Andhra Pradesh Roads and Bridge Reconstruction: This project includes widening of 1600 km of highways of the state. This will offer a double lane structure to the highways. The project also includes reconstructing of dilapidated bridges. 
  • Project (2) Andhra Pradesh Mandal Connectivity and Rural Connectivity Improvement: This project includes widening 1,400 km of district roads to have the double lane facility and to reconstruct dilapidated bridges of district roads.
  • Static Part: 
    • Dams in Andhra Pradesh: Srisailam Dam(Krishna River), Dummaguden Dam (river Godavari), Somasila Dam (Penna River), Prakasam Barrage (Krishna River)
    • HQ of NDB: Shanghai, China
