Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 3.0

Current Context: The GOI has launched the third phase of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). 

• The scheme is launched for the current fiscal year i.e. till March 2021.
• This third phase of the scheme will be managed by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
• The third phase of the scheme aims to provide training skills in 600 districts of Indian states (excluding Himachal Pradesh,, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh).
• The training skills will be given to around 8 lakh people and GOI has allotted funds of Rs 948.90 crores. 
• To impart the training sessions, around 729 Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra and more than 200 ITIs will be developed.
• After this fiscal year, GOI has planned to have a 5-year PMKVY which will be launched in 2021-22 and has set a target to offer training skills to 1.5 crore youth.
