Current Context: Union Minister Harsh Vardhan inaugurated the Coastal Research Vessel (CRV) named as ‘Sagar Anveshika’ at Chennai Port.
‘Sagar Anveshika’- A Coastal Research Vessel
  • The CRV ‘Sagar Anveshika’ will be used to perform environment indexing and bathymetric in coastal and offshore waters. 
  • The National Institute of Ocean Technology will also make use of this CRV to conduct various research projects.
  • The CRV ‘Sagar Anveshika’ is built by Titagarh Wagons, Kolkata, West Bengal.
  • It is built under the Indian Register of Shipping (IR Class).
  • The ‘Sagar Anveshika’ is a dynamic positioning capable vessel and will allow research in various oceanographic mission.
