Gov of Kerala to Build ‘Smart’ Anganwadis

Current Context: The Government of Kerala has sanctioned Rs 9 crore to build ‘Smart' Anganwadi.

• The state government will convert and upgrade the conventional anganwadis into ‘smart’ structures with better amenities.
• This work will be done by the state government under the Smart Anganwadi scheme.
• Under this scheme, the Department of Women and Child Development has approved to upgrade 48 anganwadis to ‘smart’ anganwadis.
• These smart anganwadis will help in developing the mental as well as the physical ability of students
• The ‘smart’ anganwadis will be designed under the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS).
• The ‘smart’ anganwadis will be comprised of amenities, study hall, kitchen, dinning areas, playroom, creative activity room, garden swimming pool etc.
