Current Context: India and Maldives have signed multiple agreements in various areas to boost the bilateral cooperation between them.

  • Total 5 agreements are signed between both nations which will help to boost infrastructure in the island nation.
  • Following are the details of each agreement.
  • The EXIM Bank of India and Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) for financing 2,000 social housing units in Hulhumale.
  • Both the nations signed MoU to establish Geydhoshu Masplant in Noonu Kendhikulhudhoo. This will help to develop small-scale fish processing plants in the Maldives.
  • The EXIM Bank of India and the government of Maldives signed the Second Amendatory Dollar Credit Line Agreement. This agreement will help to develop roads in the island nation.
  • MoU was signed to have capacity building and exchange of data between Prasar Bharati and Public State Media, Maldives.
  • Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of GOI and Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure of Maldives signed an agreement for sustainable urban development.
