Current Context: The Indian Navy joined Iran and Russia in a naval exercise called ‘Iran-Russia Maritime Security Belt 2021’.

  • The aim of this naval exercise is to boost international maritime trade security, combat maritime terrorism and enhance partnership among nations to share information with each other.

  • The drill covered an area of 17,000 sq. km. by performing shooting at sea and air targets. The navies liberated hijacked ships and conducted search and rescue operations.
  • In the ‘Iran-Russia Maritime Security Belt 2021,’ any country can take participation.
