Current Context: The Government of West Bengal launched ‘Maa Scheme’.
‘Maa Scheme’--- West Bengal
  • Under this scheme, the state government will provide subsidized cooked meal to the poor people at the cost of Rs 5.
  • The total funds allotted for ‘Maa Scheme’ by the state government is Rs 100 crores.
  • The state government will bear the subsidy of Rs 15 a per plate of meal.
  • The meal will be having nutritious food items like rice, dal, vegetable and egg curry which will help to maintain the nutrition value of food for poor people.
