Current Context: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for key projects in Kerala.

  • The key projects are related to the power sector and the urban sector in Kerala.
  • PM Modi dedicated the Pugalur-Thrissur Power Transmission project to the nation. It is a 320 KV Voltage Source Converter which is based on the High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC). The total cost required to build this project is Rs 5070 crore. The project will help to supply 2000 MW power to the western region and will help in the growth of the state.
  • PM Modi also inaugurated 50MW Kasaragod Solar Power Project. It is developed under National Solar Energy Mission. The total cost required to build this project is Rs 280 crore.
  • He also inaugurated the 750 MLD Water Treatment Plant at Aruvikkara. It is developed under AMRUT Mission.
  • PM Modi laid the foundation stone to construct Integrated Command and Control Centre, Construction of smart roads in Thiruvananthapuram.
  • The funds allotted to construct the Integrated Command and Control centre is Rs 94 crore. The centre will help to host the smart solutions for Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation.
  • The funds allotted to construct smart roads is Rs 427 crores.
