Current Context: India’s PM Narendra Modi paid a visit to Bangladesh, during which both the nations signed MoUs in various sectors to boost their cooperation.

  • The MoUs were signed in the sector of trade, resilience, sports facilities, ICT, Disaster management and mitigation.
  • During the visit, the PMs of both the nations discussed bilateral cooperation and the progress activities in areas of health, trade, connectivity, energy, developmental cooperation and many more.
  • Both the dignitaries agreed to run ‘Mitali Express’, a direct passenger train between Dhaka and New Jalpaiguri.
  • India also granted 109 ambulances to the Bangladesh and 1.2mn of Covid vaccine doses to eradicate pandemic from the country.
