Manipur—Model State for Van Dhan Vikas Yojana

Current Context: Manipur has emerged as the winning state for Van Dhan Yojana.

• In this state, the Van Dhan programme has emerged as a major source of employment for the local tribals.
• The Van Dhan Programme was launched in Oct 2019 and since the launching, the state government actively participated in the execution of the programme at all levels and due to which the state emerged as a model enterprise for the rest of the country.
• The state has established 100 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras, which constitute 1500 SHGs and are proving beneficial to 30,000 tribal entrepreneurs of the state who are particularly engaged in professions like processing, collection, packaging, value-adding, and marketing of the value-added products from the minor forest produce.
• The programme is controlled by TRIFED along with the support and the implementing agencies from the district administration and other stakeholders of the state.
