MoC between India & Japan for Water Resources

Current Context: The Union Cabinet gave the approval to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between Japan and India in the water resources sector.

• The MoC will help in facilitating irrigation requirements, water security, and sustainability in water resources development.
• It was signed between the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Jal Shakti Ministry, GOI and the Water and Disaster Management Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan.
• The MoC will help in enhancing cooperation in water technology and water and delta management which will lead to implementing various projects between both nations.
