MoU signed to Implement City Specific Action Plan under NCAP

Current Context: The Representatives of state pollution control boards, urban local bodies and Institutes of Repute signed an MoU to implement city-specific action plans under the National

Clean Air Programme (NCAP).

• The MoU was signed for 132 identified cities in India.
• The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar.
• The MoU was signed to fulfil the vision set by PM Modi to curb air pollution by 20% in the next 4 years in over 100 cities of the country.
• The NCAP is a national-level strategy that has set a target to reduce air pollution by a reduction in particulate matter concentrations by 2024.
• The Union Minister Prakash Javadekar also urged the states to procure e-buses for public transport purpose under the FAME scheme.
• The MoU will lead to having smooth execution of plans set to tackle air pollution in a timely manner.
