Swachhta Saarthi Fellowship

Current Context: The Office of Principal Scientific Adviser of the Government of India has launched the ‘Swachhta Saarthi Fellowship’.
Swachhta Saarthi Fellowship
  • The fellowship is launched under ‘Waste to Wealth Mission’.
  • The fellowship is launched with an aim to recognize students, SHGs, municipal and sanitary workers who are working as Swachhta Saarthi.
  • They are working to tackle the challenges of waste management in a scientific and sustainable manner.
  • Under this fellowship, GOI will grant awards to these Swachhta Saarthis in three categories. The three categories are:
    • Category (A): It is open to school students from class 9th to 12th who are engaged in waste management community-based work.
    • Category (B): It is open to College students who are pursuing UG, PG and research studies and are engaged in waste management community based work.
    • Category (C): It is open to Citizens who are working through SHGs, municipal workers and sanitary workers who are working beyond the criteria of their jobs in tackling waste management issues.
