Aahaar Kranti Mission

Current Context: The Union Minister, Health and Family Welfare, Dr Harsh Vardhan launched the ‘Aahaar Kranti’ Mission.

• The mission will focus to create awareness about the importance of a nutritious balanced diet and the importance of accessibility to the local fruits and vegetables for good health.
• It will also focus to tackle the problem of hunger and diseases in India.
• The mission is based on the motto of Uttam Aahaar, Uttam Vichaar’ which means ‘Good Diet, Good Cognition’.
• The mission was launched jointly by Pravasi Bharatiya Academic and Scientific Sampark (PRABHASS), Global Indian Scientists and Technocrats’ Forum (GIST), Vijnana Bharati (Vibha) and Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous body of the Department of Science and Technology.
• Under this mission, training sessions will be given to the teachers, who will thus pass the importance of nutritious food to the students and their families.
