DRDO and DMSRDE (Kanpur) Developed Light Weight Bullet Proof Jacket
developed a lightweight bullet-proof jacket.
  • The bulletproof jacket weighs nine kilogrammes and fulfills the qualitative standards of the Indian Army.
  • The DMSRDE is one of the laboratories of DRDO.
  • The jacket is developed using front hard armour panel technology. Because of this technology, the weight of a medium-sized bulletproof jacket was reduced from 10.4 kilograms to 9 kilograms.
  • The front hard armour panel bulletproof jacket was tested at Terminal Ballistics Research Lab in Chandigarh.
  • The jacket meets the standards framed by BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards).
