‘eSanta’ Platform for Marine Products

Current Context: India’s Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal launched the e-commerce platform ‘eSaNTA’.

• The platform is launched for marine products which will empower aqua farmers to sell their products through this portal.
• The portal will allow farmers to sell their products on the spot and also to conduct forward sales.
• The portal will help to reduce the gap and time required for the transactions and processes between the buyers and the farmers.
• The idea to launch this portal evolved from National Centre for Sustainable Aquaculture which is an arm of the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) which is under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
