IIT Guwahati Signed MoU with NFR

Current Context: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati signed MoU with North East Frontier Railway (NFR).

• The MoU was signed to work on research projects to improve the maintenance and operations of train running in the region and other fields.
• Under this MoU, IIT Guwahati will develop alternate biodegradable polymer based technologies to make railway stations plastic-free. The institute will develop ideas to make world-class railways stations that are under NFR regions.
• Both the entities will jointly work on the projects in the areas like geotechnical assistance, structure, bridges, Information Technology, overhead equipment, signalling and safety assessment, Artificial Intelligence-based predictive maintenance systems and Internet of Things design features.
• They will also develop technology to improve the maintenance and operations of rolling stock, yards, train operations and green technologies.
