Current Context: India and Japan signed MoU to achieve cooperation in the academic and research sector.
India and Japan signed MoU
  • The MoU was signed between the National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL), Dept of Space, GOI and Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere (RISH), Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan.
  • Under this MoU, both NARL and RISH will work jointly in the area of atmospheric science and technology. They will jointly conduct scientific experiments, campaigns and modelling studies by using the infrastructure and manpower support of both organisations.
  • They will also exchange scientific materials, publications and information and will conduct training and workshops for their faculty members and students.
  • They will jointly utilise the facilities like Middle and Upper atmosphere (MU) radar in Shigaraki, Japan, the Equatorial Atmosphere Radar (EAR) in Kototabang, Indonesia and complementary instruments available from RISH, and the Mesosphere-Stratosphere-Troposphere (MST) radar and complementary instruments available at NARL.
