Current Context: India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the high-level programme with Wavel Ramkalwan, the President of Seychelles.

  • While addressing the programme, PM Modi highlighted that Seychelles is central to India's vision of 'SAGAR' (Security and Growth for All in the Region).
  • He mentioned that India is grateful and honoured for being a partner with Seychelles’s development in security capabilities.
  • Both the dignitaries jointly inaugurated the new Magistrate Court building in Seychelles.
  • They also inaugurated ten High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDP).
  • Also, India handed over a Fast Patrol Vessel (Rs 100 crore) and a Solar Power Plant with a capacity of 1 MW to Seychelles.
  • Seychelles acknowledged and appreciated India’s support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
