Current Context: NITI Aayog has launched the first-of-its-kind Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) handbook in India.

  • The handbook was launched in partnership with Agami and Omidyar Network India.
  • To launch this handbook, NITI Aayog received support from ICICI Bank, Ashoka Innovators for the Public, Trilegal, Dalberg, Dvara, NIPFP.
  • The handbook was released by Justice DY Chandrachud, Supreme Court of India.
  • The ODR handbook provides encouragement to business leaders to adopt ODR in India.
  • It describes the mechanism and models of ODR which businesses can adopt.
  • ODR: It is the mechanism to resolve the disputes outside courts for small and medium cases by using digital technology platform and techniques of alternate dispute resolution (ADR) like negotiation, mediation, and arbitration. It helps to resolve disputes efficiently and at a low cost.
