- The loan amount of USD 300 million was approved for the same.
- The canal-based drinking water projects in the state will grant quality drinking water along with minimizing water losses for Amritsar and Ludhiana cities of the state.
- The project will be co-financed by IBRD (International Bank for Reconstruction and Development) of World Bank with the contribution of USD 105 million. The AIIB will contribute USD 105 million and the state government will contribute USD 90 million for the complete project.

- For this, a water treatment plant of 580 million liters per day capacity will be constructed which will be further provided to Over Head Service Reservoirs to supply water to the city.
