Current Context: The Indian Railway’s Western Central Railway zone has become the first fully electrified railway zone in India.
West Central Railway Zone becomes Fully Electrified
  • This has happened after the CCRS inspection and the commissioning of electrification of the Kota-Chittaurgarh railway station (Srinagar-Jalindri) in Rajasthan.
  • Now, the zonal railway boasts a 3012 Route Km electrified network.
  • This full electrification of the railways in this particular zone will allow trains to run at a faster speed.
  • This will also lead to a reduction in time required for travel and in also saving fuel.
