74th WHA Meeting of WHO

Current Context: The World Health Organisation (WHO) conducted the 74th edition of the World Health Assembly (WHA) meeting from its HQ in Geneva, Switzerland.

• The theme for the meeting was: ‘Ending this pandemic, preventing the next: building together a healthier, safer and fairer world.’
• The President for 74th WHA was Mrs Dechen Wangmo, Health Minister of Bhutan.
• The dignitaries have decided to set the target of achieving at least 10% population of all countries to be vaccinated by Sep 2021 and at least 30% by Dec 2021.
• At the meeting, the 30th of Jan was adopted as ‘World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day’.
